Handler Discrimination

This 6-week class meets for 1 hour each week. Handler discrimination is a class in AKC and UKC scent work where dogs search for their handler's scent instead of another odor. The goal is to move away from a taret odor to a familiar one. The difficulty of the task increases as the competition level increases. Your dog is sniffing for an article of your scent. The beginner novice level starts with one of your socks or gloves. Than as the difficulty increases your scent gets used from a cotton swab that is placed into different search environments.
